PBS has decided that it will sell "display underwriting" -- a.k.a online ads -- on its Web site. Advertising Age reports that the ads will appear on the top-level pages of the following sections: arts, news and views, history, science and technology, and business and finance.
According to this article, more than two-thirds of Internet users arrive at a Web site by "direct navigation" -- entering the site address into their browser -- compared with 14 percent who use a search engine.
